Over the last decade I've worked on strategy, sustainability and innovation challenges across verticals including healthcare, F&B, travel, tech, government, hospitality, transit, manufacturing, sports and wellbeing. The following is a small selection of that work.

The Wild Beer Co.

Turning a commodity into an extraordinary experience

The Challenge:

A pioneering brewery sought to elevate their craft beer beyond commodity status into a luxury experience, but needed a distinctive approach that would justify premium positioning.

The Approach:

Through consumer research, identified an opportunity to leverage the natural brewing process to enhance the brand experience through circular economy principles. Developed a strategic roadmap that converted sustainable practices into elements of luxury positioning, creating a unique narrative in the craft beer space.

The Outcomes

01. Establishing a clear vision and direction, capitalizing on the brewery's alternative fermentations and unorthodox techniques to create a compelling consumer experience. Reimagined the product strategy by embedding circularity into the brand's core identity, establishing a new category of premium craft beer that commanded higher price points, driving a fourfold revenue increase within two years.

02. Designed and launched the brewery's first brick-and-mortar store and bar, successfully shifting the brand to a symbol of innovative, experience-driven craft-brewing, and redefining the product line as premium goods.

The Key Insight

Well positioned commodity goods can leverage experiential consumption and sustainable business practices to challenge and reshape people's perceptions, redefine product value, and create environmental benefits.

Transport for London

Transforming the reliability of an operating network in an era of increasing disruptions

The Challenge:

TfL faced persistent issues with disruptions within their underground network. With over 7 million passenger journeys daily, even minor mishaps significantly hindered network reliability, posing risks to customer satisfaction and safety. Identifying weaknesses in operational practices, technology, and coordination was crucial for enhancing system sustainability, guest experiences and operational resilience.

The Approach:

Deep immersion via observations of control rooms during regular and disrupted conditions. Interviews with key personnel were supported with analysis of training materials, operational logs, and analytics. Through workshops and roundtables, current practices and passenger experiences were closely examined, aligning the investigation with externally validated frameworks and best practice in reliability enhancement.

The Outcomes

01. Comprehensive review of resilience and business continuity practices, resulting in actionable insights that enabled the client to fortify their reliability and enhance their disruption mitigation, incident response, and overall network safety.

02. Implementation of ongoing monitoring and continuous assessment, ensuring a continued focus on resilience enhancing practices, embedding a culture of safety and reliability within the organization.

The Key Insight

In "mission critical" operational environments, reliability isn't achieved through technical solutions alone — it requires a systematic approach that integrates human behaviour, organizational culture, and technological capabilities into a cohesive resilience strategy.

Noble Organics

Revolutionizing the organics market via a new growth strategy

The Challenge:

The rapid growth in the international organics market became challenging for a Dutch manufacturing firm. Existing operations couldn't meet overwhelming demand, resulting in unsustainable operations, including operational downtime, inefficiencies, and waste. The client sought a robust system that could handle current and future market demands, while minimising environmental impact and without compromising product quality.

The Approach:

Comprehensive strategic and operational review to map barriers, identify solutions, and pilot workflow innovations. Scenario workshops with operators, company-wide ideation clinics, and white space exploration with senior leaders led to a co-designed strategy and internal processes which aligned with future growth trends.

The Outcomes

01. Defined a coherent growth strategy to ensure scalability without jeopardizing product quality or sustainability targets.

02. Areas of waste and inefficiency were identified within the manufacturing and distribution process, as well as hidden opportunities and technological innovations which could improve output.

03. Led and project managed the design and implementation of a new $280k manufacturing and distribution facility, leading to 2.5x output with the same workforce.

The Key Insight

Traditional SME manufactures lack resources & time to develop and implement sustainable, innovative processes. As commodity prices rise, the next generation of winners will adopt processes that harness technologies and methodologies that revolutionize throughput and efficiency.
